Opinionated. Not very useful. Lack of commentary.

I purchased this as a requirement for a course I was taking. I have to force myself to cite the thing because it''s required for the class or I would ignore it completely. I have many other 1 volume commentaries that offer far more useful less opinionated information. I do not care for the authors writing style, it contains very little useful information that a basic Study Bible wouldn''t already contain and pretty much just summarizes the Bible in as many pages as the Bible is written in. It''s not succinct at all. I can read the Bible itself. I don''t need a commentary that repeats it without any... commentary.

Better as a hard copy, but the content is outstanding

I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because I don''t think ANY digital book should be priced this high.

I bought the 1971 edition the year it came out and found it to be the gold standard commentary which I have used so extensively that the binding is broken and it shows considerable wear. Therefore I was eagerly anticipating the new edition which I hoped would be an updated version of the old one. This version is smaller and is not nearly as informative as the 1971 version. I am very disappointed and still find myself using the old version the most.

I just received my expensive book for a bible class that I must take, starting on August 6. I opened up the box, expecting to be pleasantly surprised by the information in the book (since it is a commentary on the bible). Well, I was unpleasantly surprised, to say the least. The cover of the book is printed upside down, so the back of the book is the front and the front is the back of the book. I have never received a book that was put together incorrectly. What a disappointment.
