Product Description

As a physical therapist, coach, and certified strength and conditioning specialist, Dr. Aaron Horschig began to notice the same patterns in athletes over and over. Many of them seemed to pushed themselves as athletes in the same ways they push themselves out in the real world.

Living in a performance-based society, Dr. Horschig saw many athletes who seemed to not only want to be bigger and stronger but to get there faster. This mentality ultimately led to injuries and setbacks, preventing athletes from reaching their full potential.

Now, after developing unique and easy-to-use techniques on how to train and move well, Dr. Horschig shares his invaluable insights with readers in The Squat Bible: The Ultimate Guide to Mastering the Squat and Finding Your True Strength.

This detailed plan enables you to unearth the various weak spots within your body—the areas that leave you in pain and hinder your ability to perform—and completely change your approach to athleticism. Discover new strength, new power, and astounding potential you never knew you possessed.

As the founder of SquatUniversity.com, Dr. Horschig knows that when you transform the way you work out, you transform your body—and your life.

I have followed the author Dr. Aaron Horschig for a while on instagram. Man, that guy knows what he''s talking about I still use most of the tips and advice I learned from his instagram account as a strength and conditioning coach as well as for my own lifts. So I decided to purchase his book.

I wanted to see Dr. Aaron Horschig dive deeper into correctives in his book. But thats is not what I found.

The Squat Bible is a great book for beginning lifters or coaches. It teaches the squat basics of each fundamental squat patterns (back squat, front squat, overhead squat). The book then goes into a concept known as the Joint-by-Joint Concept, previously discussed in other books such as Mike Boyle''s "Functional Training". Horschig then breaks down each joint and why they are important for the squat.

Pros:
-Easy Read
-Simple Concepts (Don''t have to be in the field to understand the writing)

Cons:
-Price (25 dollars for 125 pages of basic information)
-The book felt like regurgitated information posted previously on his instagram account (why give info for free, when you can put it in a book and sell it)
-The concepts may be too simple
-Nothing new or groundbreaking
-Hoped for more correctives and screenings... didn''t get it

Takeaway:
Overall this book would be great for a beginner coach or powerlifter trying to learn more about the squat.
But after reading the book once, it will just collect dust on the shelf because there is no information worth looking back on.

I am writing a 5 star review not only of the book he wrote but the tremendous follow up he has undertaken on Instagram, Twitter, his new Squat University Podcast and on his own website. The book gives a great introduction to the technical ways to properly do a squat and its benefits. It goes through a lot of the most commonly found problems and their solutions. However because squatting is a movement sometimes static pictures don''t do it justice, which is where his online content is so useful as you can watch his examples in short video clips. I''ve even tweeted him about issues I''ve had with my own squats and hes personally replied back. That''s Awesome!

As I get older I realize how important it is to financially support products you appreciate. Could you be cheap and only read his online content? Sure. But I value his work and insight and his help he has given myself and others, so I wanna make sure the man gets paid and this is the most effective way I know how. Dr. Horschig has done a great job in helping us in the gym begin to master one of the most fundamental movements we need for success, and it''s because of that I give my highest reccomendation.

Great resource. Awesome tips on detecting weaknesses & issues that cause injury through improper form. Great advice on what to do about detected mobility & stability issues. I always thought my labral tears in hips caused my depth issues, but this book help lead me to the real issue: ankles/dorsiflexion. Also eased my mind with legit science on why deep squatting isn''t inherently bad for your knees. Must read for trainers & gym rats alike

By focusing only on the squat the author gives himself plenty of room to elaborate on important points and to adequately explain the value of each principle along the way. I love a book that doesn''t shy away from telling you why, and in The Squat Bible this is addressed in a way that is readable and the complex concepts seem simple.

OK, I''m not a major fitness performer. I''m an older woman with a bad knee who knows squatting is good for her, but it hurts. Or I was. I read this book and, within days of mindful practice, I was transformed into an older woman with a bad knee who can squat freely and painlessly, if not very deeply. Which means I can also get in and out of chairs, go up stairs, and pick things up from the floor with far greater comfort than before. And further squatting will now bring more strength rather than more injury. Horschig urges you to learn the movement rather than concentrate on numbers, etc. Get the form right, and he gives clear instructions on many points to consider, gathering them into an order that helps you put them into practice. Who knows? If I keep practicing what he preaches, I may yet get my "ass to the grass" and do pistol squats. I know I''ll be stronger. I imagine this book would have prodigious impact on more advanced fitness fanatics, too. Good form pays off for everyone.

The 3* is purely for this version of the book (the b&w paperback version). The content of the book remains 5*, it is one of the best books out there for improving your squat technique and mobility. I owned the colour version of this book and it was fantastic. Like a college text book, the pages were glossy and bright and the pictures were very detailed and in colour. This b&w paperback version that I picked up to replace that one (which I never got back after a loan) just takes too much away in my opinion. The pages are no longer glossy, they are the same as you would find in a novel. The pictures are black and white, but they are also much lower in quality than in the colour version. This means you lose some of the detail and when you are talking about hard to notice points such as how your foot arches or how to use your toes, this can effect your comprehension. If you really can''t afford the colour version (it can get quite expensive) then I think you could pick up this black and white version relatively fine, but honestly for an extra £10 it really is worth the investment in full colour.
